Job Title Nursery Housekeeper
Hours 2 hours per day Monday to Friday,3pm-5pm It is possible though that the post holder may have another job, we are happy to be flexible to negotiate the 2-hour working window with the successful applicant to be sometime between 8am and 5pm.

Training / experience / Qualifications
A previous role as a cleaner, housekeeper, stores manager etc may be helpful. Or indeed you may be a parent who has learned skills along the way!
Background to the post
Rainbow Nursery is a part of Daisy and Rainbow Childcare which is a small local charity dedicated to providing high quality childcare to children under the age of 5 years old. Rainbow Nursery is a busy and often noisy environment as we support up to 55 children at any one time. It is a fun and happy space to work in with a lively team of childcare professionals working with the children. The environment can get quickly messy and disorganised hence the need for this role!
Brief Description of the Job
We are looking for someone who enjoys creating order out of chaos, someone who likes a bit of bustle and enjoys getting stuck into their work. You will be happy to have young children around your feet, asking questions and being constantly interested in what you are doing. You will take pride in your achievements at work, enjoy looking at sparkling surfaces, ordered shelves and labelled boxes with the right contents in them. You will have an eye for detail and an ability to see what needs doing without it being waved in front of your nose. You will be willing to do what is needed on the day and have the skill to prioritise key tasks over the day and the week.
Key Tasks
Toy and Equipment Storage
The postholder will set up clearly labelled storage systems.
Our teams will return items to their correct places however the post holder will police the organisation of all shelves and cupboards making sure that everything has a clearly labelled “home” to live in. This is a task which requires an ordered mind and someone who “loves to sort”. This postholder will be responsible for liaising with the teams that use the equipment, resources and toys to ensure there is a good process in place.
Cleaning Supplies
This postholder will
We have an evening cleaning team who keep our floor surfaces etc clean however we do need someone to pay attention to those areas that can easily get missed, as follows
Laundry

The team will keep the garden ready for play however do not always get the time to do everything hence this post holder will ….

This post holder will not have responsibility for the children’s direct care or education however will,

- Put any deliveries of cleaning supplies away
- Monitor cleaning supplies and request repeat orders when supplies are low
- Maintain the correct labelled storage of all cleaning supplies
- Support the team to keep supplies readily available for use across the nursery

- Cleaning handprints and marks from walls and windows
- Wet cleaning carpets and rugs
- Cleaning toys and the boxes that house them
- Keeping the front windows clean
- Washing up when needed
- Floor sweeping when needed
- Steam cleaning
- Cleaning worktops and sinks
Laundry

- Load and operate the washing machine
- Hang laundry out to dry
- Load and operate the tumble drier
- Fold and put laundry away
Outdoors Work
The team will keep the garden ready for play however do not always get the time to do everything hence this post holder will ….
- Power wash the approach pathway
- Sweep the outdoor play area
- Weed along the approach path and around the main area of the garden
- Overview that the outdoor toy storage is organised
Children
This post holder will not have responsibility for the children’s direct care or education however will,
- Respond to children with care and thoughtfulness
- Be willing to wipe a nose, pick up a child who has fallen, talk kindly with a child and answer any of their questions with a smile or otherwise alert a team member to any more specific needs.
Health and Safety
