Our Nursery
Rainbow Nursery is a bright and airy purpose-designed glass-fronted building on the Mansion Community site in the centre of Totnes town. The library is based above us on the first floor. We have our own enclosed garden with Construction area, a covered gazebo, growing space, a roly-poly slope and plenty of space to give lots of free movement.

Our Sessions
- Rainbow Nursery is open all year round, offering places to babies from 3 months to 4-year-olds.
- We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.
- Morning Sessions start at 8am or 9am and finish times can be 12pm, 1pm, 3pm, 4pm or 5pm.
- Afternoon sessions start at 1pm and finish at 4pm or 5pm.
- We have a few limited spaces available, upon request, between 5 – 5.15pm (These spaces are not funded)
- Childcare bookings must be over a minimum of two days.
- Brunch – Between 8am and 9.45am we provide a simple brunch such as cereals, overnight oats, yogurt, fruit, toast, crumpets, muffins etc.
- Lunch – Between 12 and 1pm we provide a home cooked family lunch.
- Afternoon snack/tea – At 3.15pm we provide a simple home cooked snack/light tea such as homemade bread, cheese scones, vegetable muffins etc.

EYPP – Early Years Pupil Premium
EYPP is additional funding paid to providers to enhance the quality of your child’s early years’ experience by improving the teaching and learning, and facilities and resources, with the aim of impacting positively on your child’s progress and development. Funded children may be eligible if parents have an income under £16,190 and are in receipt of certain benefits.
You do not need to apply for this, Devon County Council will use the information you give us on the funding declaration/registration form to check your child’s eligibility. We will let you know if your child is eligible.

- All children, from the term after their 3rd birthday, are entitled to up to 11 funded hours per week.
Working Entitlements (for working families)
- Eligible 3 & 4 year olds can access up to 22 hours per week (term after 3rd birthday)
- Eligible 2 year olds can access up to 11 funded hours per week (term after 2nd birthday)
- SEPTEMBER 2024 Eligible babies can access up to 11 funded hours per week (term after they turn 9 months)

- Families in receipt of certain benefits, or looked after children may be eligible for the targeted funding for 2 year olds. Eligible children can access up to 11 funded hours (term after 2nd birthday)

Our Fees and Charges
The department for Education’s operation guidance states:
“Government funding is intended to cover the cost to deliver up to 15 or 30 hours a week of funded high quality, flexible childcare. It is not intended to cover the cost of meals, consumables, additional hours or additional services -The provider can charge for meals and snacks as part of a funded entitlement place, and they can also charge for consumables such as baby wipes or suncream”

- Hourly Rate for Non-Funded hours: £6.25 for 3 & 4yr olds and £7.00 for under 3s.
- 5 – 5.15pm slot: £2.50.
- Non-refundable registration fee: £100 for children booking non-funded hours.
- Consumables: Funded children will be charged a consumables fee to cover items used in the care of your child. This is £1 per funded hour (e.g., a child who is claiming 11 hours per week, the fee will be £11 per week) This includes the following: snacks, drinks, arts and craft materials, resources, cleaning products, hand towels, baby wipes etc.
- There will be no consumables fee on the first 11 hours for children who are eligible to the Early Years Pupil Premium or the Targeted 2-year-old funding.

- Tax-Free Childcare – if you are earning more than £183 per week and not in receipt of tax credits or universal credit, for every £8 you pay, the government pay £2 (up to £2000 per year)
- Universal Credit – may pay up to 85% of childcare costs.

We invite you to complete our pre-registration form which does not commit either yourselves as parents or ourselves. It will enable us to put your child’s name on our waiting list for a future admission. We will use the information you provide to enable us to contact you within 2 months of the proposed start date to offer your child a place or to inform of the lack of a vacancy.

Access to the Nursery is pedestrian only.
There are entrances to the site from the main Fore St and from the rear off Victoria St. Parking is not allowed in Victoria Street. There is metered parking on Fore Street and the closest available car-parks are on St Katherine’s Way or in Morrisons car-park in Coronation Rd.
